Plaxedes Wenyika is a celebrated award winning Zimbabwean Afro-Soul singer and songwriter . She made history by becoming the first woman to venture and breakthrough into an industry that was at the time male dominated and was among the pioneers of the very popular and unique to Zimbabwe, urban contemporary music genre called Urban Grooves. Her chart topping debut album Tisaparadzane released in 2002 sold over 50 000 copies establishing her as the Queen of Hearts and touching millions of lives with her love song anthems.
Her forte is the tumultuous emotion that is love and she has evolved into the darling of Zimbabwe. To date she has 5 albums to her name and has performed in various countries around the globe. She is also an actress and has been nominated for a National Arts Merit Award for her performance. An Economist by profession and the holder of an MBA, Plaxedes is a business woman with various successful business interests. A heart and passion to assist the vulnerable and under privileged has seen her work as the Brand Ambassador for Chinyaradzo Children’s Home and many other organisations championing causes such as human trafficking, gender and inheritance issues.
